Customer Testimonials
The documentation requirements were shockingly complex and demanding - due to Brexit. From the very beginning all the way through to finally obtaining the visa and TIE, the ClickToSpain team demonstrated total knowledge, professionalism with great customer care. When faced with set backs for reasons out of our control, the team had to do a repeat application doubling the work load, they kept the original promise and delivered the work without extra charge.
We are especially grateful to Carina. She was with us all the way -
She was most hard-working, patient and gave us the utmost support, always understanding, responsive and communicative and never too much to ask. She is a true professional!
Also want to thank Andrew who did a great job in convincing us to use the service; and Pavel, who supported us in successfully obtaining TIE.

Studying in Spain — Your Questions Answered
Can I apply for a Spanish student visa from the UK, or do I need to be in Spain?
Both options exist, but they cover different situations. From the UK, you can apply at the Spanish Consulate in London, Manchester or Edinburgh for any type of student visa — university degrees, language schools, vocational colleges, PhD research, short specialised courses — and family members can be included in the same application. Applying from within Spain is only available to applicants enrolled in recognised higher education (university-level programmes), who can enter as visitors and file directly with the Extranjería office, which usually shortens the overall timeline. For language-year students, non-university courses, and anyone bringing dependants, the UK route is typically required.
How much is a student visa for Spain from the UK?
The consular fee for British citizens in 2026 is approximately £79.60, plus the BLS International handling fee of around £22. Additional costs include the apostille of your qualification (~£30), sworn translation (£25–£50 per page) and private healthcare — budgeting £350–£500 total for the full application is realistic.
How long can I stay in Spain with a student visa?
Your initial student visa is issued for the duration of your course — up to one year for short programmes, or the full length of a degree (up to five years). You can renew annually in Spain while you remain enrolled, and time on a student visa counts at 50% toward the ten-year residency requirement for Spanish citizenship.
Is it hard for UK citizens to move to Spain?
Since Brexit, UK nationals are treated as third-country citizens and must qualify under one of Spain’s residence routes — Student, Non-Lucrative, Digital Nomad, Work, or Family Reunification. The process is documented and predictable but demanding: apostilled criminal record, sworn translations, income or savings thresholds, and private healthcare. With proper preparation, approval rates are high (our firm’s success rate is 98% over 2,000+ cases).
How long does it take to get a student visa for Spain from the UK?
Under the current Reglamento de Extranjería (Real Decreto 1155/2024), you must file your application at least two months before the start of your studies — this is a regulatory minimum, not a guideline. Consular processing itself typically takes 15–30 working days once the application is accepted, though between June and September this stretches to 4–6 weeks, and BLS International appointment availability can add another 2–4 weeks at the start. Exceptions to the two-month rule exist (late admission off a waiting list, scholarships awarded late, flexible enrolment at language and vocational schools) but must be documented with supporting evidence. In practice, aiming to submit 10–12 weeks before your course starts gives a comfortable margin.
Can I work while studying in Spain on a student visa?
It depends on what you study. Higher education students — university degrees, postgraduate programmes, and official vocational or artistic training — receive work authorisation essentially as part of the study permit: they can work up to 30 hours per week, and the employer simply registers the contract with Spanish Social Security. Language school students and those on unofficial courses are under a different regime: they must apply for a separate work authorisation that is not granted automatically and is frequently refused. The student visa itself does not universally entitle every holder to work — the type of institution is decisive.
Can my family members join me on a Spanish student visa?
Yes — spouses, registered partners, and children under 18 can be included in the initial student visa application (acompañantes) without the 12-month waiting period that applies to standard Family Reunification. You must show additional funds of 75% of IPREM (~€450/month in 2026) for the first dependant and 50% (~€300/month) per further family member, on top of your own financial requirement. Accompanying family members receive a residence card with the same duration as the student visa, and adult dependants can work in Spain without a separate work permit.
Can I switch to another residence route after my studies?
Yes, but the available routes depend heavily on what you studied. Under Real Decreto 1155/2024, higher education students who complete a recognised programme (university, postgraduate, official vocational or artistic training) can modify their status to residence with work (employee or self-employed), to a Job Search residence of up to 24 months, or to residence via family ties. Once the modification is admitted for processing, the graduate can begin working legally. Language school students are excluded from these modification paths — they cannot convert their study stay into a work or long-stay residence permit and must leave Spain or apply afresh from abroad through a separate route. A direct modification to the Digital Nomad Visa is legally possible but frequently denied: the UGE expects the standard DNV proof of a pre-existing 3-month relationship with a non-Spanish client or employer, and rejections often cite the fact that students had no general right to work during their studies.
